Is Drone Security Right for Your Business?

Is Drone Security Right for Your Business?

Drone security is revolutionizing the way businesses approach their security. They enhance security monitoring capabilities and ensuring rapid response times. Learn how the integration of drones into security systems offers unparalleled advantages.

Once considered a hobbyist’s toy, drones have evolved in technology and in capabilities, growing into an indispensable tool for a variety of industries, and becoming a formidable asset for both the military and law enforcement. Another sector where they are making their presence felt: physical security.

At Titan, we offer Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to patrol and protect our clients’ properties, using a blend of technology and our team of monitoring agents. But are drones right for your business? And are they affordable? And do all of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations associated with drones make it worth the investment? Here are answers to some of the commonly asked questions we’ve been receiving:

What kind of surveillance do drones provide?

UAVs can be programmed to provide virtual security in multiple ways, from intrusion detection and automatic threat response to manual dispatch and scheduled autonomous patrols. A big benefit is that they can cover vast (and hard to reach) areas and can assess situations from a safe distance, keeping personnel out of harm's way.

At Titan, our drones provide a constant stream of data and visuals, all of which is monitored 24/7 at our in-house, 5-Diamond-certified command center.

Is drone security right for my business?

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles are practical for any outdoor properties in need of protection but are particularly valuable to owners and managers of large areas such as car dealerships, apartment complexes, construction sites and utility fields.

I already use a fixed security system or mobile towers. Why do I need drones, too?

Most properties don't have 100% coverage of every nook and cranny that exists. A trailer or a fixed camera may catch unauthorized personnel as they walk by, but they can’t pick up what’s happening once they’re out of camera range. Drones allow pilots and monitors to follow an intruder and, when necessary, take action.

Evaluating the Cost-Effectiveness of Drone Security Solutions?

UAVs can actually be a big cost-saver. If your property is expansive enough to require multiple on-site security guards, you could find yourself spending hundreds of thousands of dollars for full-time service.

Even more cost-effective security options like mobile surveillance towers can get pricey if you need to deploy several of them for proper coverage. By comparison, the cost of drone security is a less expensive, more efficient option.

Aren’t there FAA restrictions I would need to deal with?

Until very recently, there have been some roadblocks in drone security, including limitations of self-charging docking stations and regulations on Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations. But change is in the air! Barriers are beginning to lift thanks to some game-changing legislation that promises to redefine the landscape of drone operations in the United States.

At Titan, we are following all this closely and will provide updates as they arrive.

How long will it take to train my staff to become licensed drone pilots?

If you choose Titan as your drone security provider, that won’t be a concern! Training drone pilots can be time-consuming and difficult process, and the job comes with a high turnover rate. At Titan, our team is already certified so there is no training or team management to worry about.

Are there other benefits to using drone security for my site?

There are other use cases for UAVs that go beyond guarding your property from criminal activity. Clients have used our drones for structural inspections, project monitoring, site mapping and more, streamlining project management while enhancing safety.
