Drones Meet Dreams: Titan Protection Opens Doors to Kansas City Youth

When Drones Meet Dreams:
Titan Protection Opens Doors to Kansas City Youth

What do you get when you combine cutting-edge drone technology, passionate mentors, and a group of curious young minds? An unforgettable evening that might spark the next generation of security professionals.

This past Tuesday, October 7th, Titan Protection's Overland Park headquarters transformed into something pretty special—a launchpad (pun intended!) for imagination and possibility. Through a partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City, we hosted our first "Big & Little Drone Zone" event. Watching the next generation get hands-on experience with drone technology reminded us exactly why we do what we do.

More Than Just Cool Tech

Sure, drones are awesome. But this event was about something bigger than just flying gadgets—it was about opening doors that some of these students might not have even known existed.

Littles in 6th grade and up got to step into the world of drone security in the most hands-on way possible. Led by our Drone Automated Operations Manager, Thomas Keary, students experienced live demonstrations by professional pilots, including Joseph Woods, who showed exactly what these security drones can do. They toured our mobile command center (yes, our tricked-out sprinter van is basically a security headquarters on wheels), and got a behind-the-scenes look at our dispatch operations—where our entire dispatch team stepped up to show students where the real magic happens.

Building Bridges, One Flight at a Time:

Titan is excited to open our doors to the BBBSKC community and introduce young people to the cutting-edge technology shaping the future of security," shared Ryan Smith, Titan's Founder and President. "We believe experiences like this not only spark curiosity but also help Littles imagine new career pathways."

And that's really what this is all about—showing these students that careers in technology and security aren't just possibilities, they're within reach. Maybe one of them will become a drone pilot, another will innovate the next breakthrough in security technology, or perhaps they'll take what they learned and apply it somewhere we haven't even imagined yet.

The Power of Partnership:

Michael Lawrence, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City, put it perfectly: "Through unique partnerships like this, Littles get to experience opportunities that broaden their horizons and inspire them to dream bigger."

The event wasn't all business, though. We made sure there was plenty of pizza for everyone (because let's be honest, learning works better on a full stomach). And because we wanted everyone to take a piece of the evening home with them, we handed out custom Titan squeeze drones to all the participants—a fun reminder of their first flight into the world of drone technology.

A Team Effort:

Events like this don't just happen—they take dedication, coordination, and a team that genuinely cares about making a difference. A huge thank you to Ellyssa Gallinger, Match Activities and Outreach Coordinator, for BBBSKC, Titan's Director of Marketing, Brian Potter, who coordinated the evening and answered students' questions, Thomas Keary's engaging demonstrations, Joseph Woods' piloting expertise, and our dispatch team, for opening up their world to curious minds. Our team had the chance to connect one-on-one with students, answering questions and sharing their own journeys in the security industry. This was truly a team effort that showcased the best of what Titan is all about.

Just The Beginning:

This event is just the kickoff. We're committed to making this partnership with BBBSKC something truly meaningful. That means encouraging our Titan team members to step up as "Bigs" themselves, and creating more opportunities for students to explore careers in security and technology.

Because at the end of the day, this industry needs fresh perspectives and innovative thinkers. And who better to inspire than the young people in our own Kansas City community?

To every Little who joined us: thanks for your curiosity, your questions, and your enthusiasm. To the Bigs who brought them, thanks for investing in these relationships. And to Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City - we're just getting started.

Here's to dreaming bigger—and flying higher.
