Protecting What Matters Most: How Titan’s Virtual Officers Are Safeguarding Erin’s House II

At Titan Protection, we often talk about security in terms of risk reduction, deterrence, and dollars saved. But every once in a while, a project reminds us that the true value of security goes far beyond the balance sheet.

That’s the case with Erin’s House II.

Recently, Titan was proud to donate a Virtual Officer surveillance system to Do Good for Erin to protect the construction site for Erin’s House II — a new shelter for survivors of domestic violence that will be operated by Friends of Yates in Kansas City, Kansas.

Learning the Hard Way — and Refusing to Let It Happen Again

Erin’s House II builds on the success of the first Erin’s House renovation, a project created to honor the life and legacy of Erin Langhofer, a 25-year-old social worker whose commitment to helping others continues to inspire this work.

But the first project also came with painful lessons.

After a break-in and vandalism caused an estimated $50,000 in damage during construction of Erin’s House I, the entire project was pushed back months.

“On the first break-in, it set us back three months,” said Tom Langhofer, Erin’s father, who founded Do Good for Erin along with Erin’s mom, Marcy, in 2019. “Three months is a long time for people who need help.”
That delay is also what first brought Titan into the project. After seeing local TV coverage of the break-ins, Titan Protection President and Founder Ryan Smith reached out to offer help.

“Erin’s House has such an inspiring mission, and it’s heartbreaking to see a project like that slowed down by preventable crime,” Smith said. “When we saw a way that we could help protect the site and prevent any more delays, we were glad to step in. This wasn’t about cameras — it was about making sure people who need help weren’t waiting any longer than they already had to.”

The Virtual Officer system that Titan donated to the site helped prevent at least a dozen additional attempted robberies and acts of vandalism – saving tens of thousands of dollars and keeping the project moving forward.

For Erin’s House II, the goal is simple: no setbacks, no delays, and no resources diverted away from the people who need them most.

Security That Prevents Crime — Instead of Just Recording It

Unlike traditional cameras that passively record incidents after the fact, Titan’s Virtual Officer program is designed to actively stop crime in real time.

“It hits you emotionally, so the hope is to prevent these things, not just record them happening or have false alarms,” said Smith. “Our cameras will trigger our 24/7 security operations center. Our highly-trained staff then determines if there is activity or action needed, talk through the camera to scare somebody off, send a security officer, or call the police.”

This proactive approach is especially critical for construction sites and nonprofit projects, where every stolen tool or damaged wall translates directly into lost time, lost funding, and delayed services.

What Is a Virtual Security Guard?

Titan’s Virtual Security Guard is a mobile surveillance system built for challenging environments – including construction sites, vacant properties, and outdoor locations with short- or long-term security needs.

Key benefits include:
•    Rapid deployment: Portable systems that can often be installed the same day
•    Cost efficiency: A powerful alternative to live guards or routine patrols
•    Flexibility: No extensive cabling or permanent infrastructure required

Behind every system is Titan’s 24/7 Video Command Center, where trained video analysts actively monitor camera feeds and respond to suspicious activity in real time. Deterrence methods include voice-downs, lights, and alarms – and when needed, coordination with on-site security or law enforcement.

Dollars Saved — and Peace of Mind Gained

By preventing at least a dozen attempted crimes at Erin’s House I alone, Titan’s donated systems have helped protect tens of thousands of dollars that could instead be invested in building safe, welcoming spaces for survivors.

But as Tom Langhofer puts it, the real value is harder to quantify.

Langhofer says the system gives them peace of mind – confidence that construction can continue without interruption and that Erin’s vision won’t be delayed by preventable setbacks.

For Titan, that peace of mind is priceless.

Security in Service of Community

We’re honored to support Do Good for Erin and Friends of Yates as Erin’s House II takes shape. This project is a powerful reminder that security technology, when paired with purpose, can do more than protect property – it can protect progress.

At Titan, we believe the best security solutions don’t just guard spaces. They safeguard missions, timelines, and the people counting on them.
