Five unauthorized individuals entered a large water treatment facility and headed toward an area with dangerous, fast-moving water. Titan Protection's Virtual Security team detected them shortly after they arrived, but the size of the property, dense foliage, and difficult terrain soon took them beyond the reach of fixed cameras.That's when another part of the property's security program took over.

Titan's Security Operations Center (SOC) coordinated with its drone operators to launch a drone and restore visual contact. A Titan security officer and responding police officers were then guided through the property using information from the drone until they located the individuals.

The five trespassers were cited and escorted from the property without further incident.

Five Unauthorized Individuals Enter a High-Risk Water Treatment Facility

The incident began when five individuals exited a vehicle at a client's water treatment facility and headed toward the water.

The facility covers a large area and includes rapid, dangerous waters where unauthorized visitors should not be present. According to Titan's account of the incident, the group had gone to the bank to fish and had also started a fire.

Cameras covering the property generated an alert that reached Titan's SOC, where operators monitor activity across client locations.

The alert gave the team an early indication that unauthorized people were on the property and allowed operators to begin tracking their movement.

Then the group disappeared from the cameras' view.

When Fixed Cameras Lost Sight, Drone Security Took Over

Large properties present a basic visibility challenge. Cameras can provide extensive coverage, but terrain, vegetation, structures, and the sheer size of a site can create areas that fixed cameras cannot see. When the five individuals moved into one of those areas, Titan's SOC contacted its drone team.

Because the SOC and drone operators work alongside one another, information about the incident could be shared immediately and the drone deployed to investigate.

Once airborne, the drone restored visual contact with the group. The aerial camera allowed Titan to track the individuals as they moved through the property and maintain awareness of their location. Titan's drones also have tools such as speakers and spotlights that can be used to communicate with trespassers when appropriate.

Meanwhile, the SOC initiated the ground response.

Connecting Eyes in the Sky With Boots on the Ground

Titan dispatched a security officer to the facility while coordinating with responding law enforcement.

By the time the officer arrived, drone operators and SOC personnel had already gathered information about who was on the property, where they were located, and what they were doing. That information could then be shared with the officer and police.

Titan can also provide responding officers with a video link that allows them to see the drone's aerial camera feed from the ground. In this case, that visibility was particularly valuable because of the property's challenging layout.

Dense foliage and difficult terrain prevented the responding Titan officer and two police officers from seeing the individuals directly. There were no sidewalks or open areas providing a clear route, but the drone continued to track the group from above.

The responding officer described seeing the drone approximately 40 feet overhead and using the direction of its camera to help determine where the group was located.

The solution was remarkably straightforward: follow the drone.

The Drone Led Responders Through Difficult Terrain

As the Titan officer and police moved through the foliage, they remained in communication with the SOC and drone operators.

The drone provided the perspective that personnel on the ground lacked, effectively guiding them toward the group's location.

Shortly after making their way through the difficult terrain, the officer and police encountered the five individuals just outside the tree line.

Police obtained their information, issued citations, and explained why they were prohibited from being on the property. The group was then escorted off the site without further incident.

From the initial camera alert through the final escort, each component of the security program had served a specific purpose.

By the end of the response, Titan had a drone overhead, SOC personnel coordinating with police, and an officer on the ground completing what the company describes as the "last mile."

A fixed camera provided the first alert but eventually lost visibility. The drone filled that gap.
