Titan Protection Operations Center Earns Perfect Score in UL Certification Audit

KANSAS CITY, Kan, 07/09/2026

UL 827B audit validates industry-leading standards for video monitoring, resiliency, and operational excellence

Titan Protection and Consulting announced today that its Security Operations Center has been certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the globally-recognized gold standard in independent safety and reliability verification. Titan's Kansas City-based operations center received a 100 percent score during its annual audit for UL 827B, one of the security industry's most rigorous certifications for managed video monitoring services.

Titan's Security Operations Center is a key element of the company's blended, proactive approach to enterprise security, which has been shown to reduce security incidents by as much as 40%, while saving up to 60% on security costs.

“This certification is a testament to Titan's blended approach to security – combining highly-trained personnel with advanced technologies to improve effectiveness while reducing costs,” said Ryan Smith, founder and president of Titan Protection. “When a client entrusts us with protecting a data center, distribution facility, construction site or corporate campus, they depend on our operations center to perform flawlessly every hour of every day. This certification provides independent confirmation that we're built to meet that responsibility.”
At the company's 24/7 command center, trained security professionals monitor more than 5,500 cameras and drones across client locations. The facility was purpose-built with multiple layers of redundancy to maintain uninterrupted service during power outages, network disruptions, and other unexpected events. In June alone, the center processed more than 605,000 alarms across the sites it protects. Those alerts led to multiple real-world interventions – including 36 arrests so far in 2026.

The UL certification verifies that Titan's operations center meets independently established standards for physical security, infrastructure, personnel qualifications, operational procedures, and service delivery. Auditors found no deficiencies across any evaluated category, an uncommon achievement even among UL-certified monitoring centers.

That level of reliability has helped support Titan's broader innovation efforts – including recent FAA approval allowing Titan's remote pilots to monitor up to four drones simultaneously, further expanding the reach of its security operations.

Unlike many certifications, UL 827B is not awarded based solely on documentation or self-attestation. The audit evaluates whether operations centers can consistently deliver mission-critical monitoring services under both normal and degraded operating conditions. Areas assessed include:

  • Secure facility design capable of operating during emergencies
  • Redundant power, communications, and network infrastructure
  • Real-time monitoring of video traffic and system performance
  • Documented and regularly practiced operator response procedures
  • Personnel training and qualification standards
  • Compliance with both the foundational UL 827 central station requirements and the additional UL 827B video monitoring standards

Auditors also conduct unannounced evaluations to verify that these capabilities are actively maintained rather than simply documented.

Approximately 2,700 monitoring stations operate throughout the United States, but only a small fraction maintain any UL 827 listing. The specialized UL 827B certification for managed video monitoring services is significantly rarer. Introduced in 2016, only a limited number of operations centers have earned the designation, making it one of the industry's least common third-party certifications.

Because UL certification is maintained through recurring audits, Titan's operations center remains subject to ongoing independent verification. Certified facilities are listed in UL Solutions' publicly searchable Product iQ database, allowing clients, insurers, and partners to independently confirm a facility's certification status.
