4th of July Events around Kansas City

DeSoto’s 4th of July Celebration at Riverfest Park: Experience the high-energy performance by Good Sam Club Band, followed by a breathtaking firework show.

When: 7:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. July 4. Vendors open at 7p.m. Fireworks begin at 9:45 p.m. 

What: Performance by Good Sam Club Band followed by a firework show. No personal firework or alcohol allowed. 

Where: Riverfest Park. 33440 W 79th St. De Soto, KS 66018 

Cost: FREE 

 

Edgerton 3rd of July: Celebrate early with a community picnic, live DJ, games, inflatables, face painting, and a firework display to round off the evening.

When: 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. July 3. 

What: Annual community picnic at 6:00 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9:45 p.m. Two Guys and A Grill will be serving hot dogs and hamburgers, chips and water while supplies last. 

This family-friendly event features: 

  • DJ Phil Davis 
  • Inflatables 
  • Face painting 
  • Yard Games 
  • Free t-shirts for the first 500 people

Gardner Independence Day Festival: Spend the day enjoying live music, games, food vendors, and an impressive fireworks display.

When: 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. July 4 

What: Live music featuring Big Time Grain Co, Jameson Rodgers, and Drew Green, plus games, inflatables, activities, food vendors, and fireworks. Gates open at 3:00 p.m. Firework show begins at 10:00 p.m. 

Where: Celebration Park. 32501 W. 159th St. Gardner, KS 66030 

Cost: FREE 

**No personal fireworks, pets, grills, or pop-up tents of any kind will be permitted at the park** 

 

Leawood Celebration in the Park: This all-day event includes swimming, kids’ activities, live music, and, of course, a firework show.

When: 12:00 p.m. – 9:45 p.m. July 4 

What: Live music, food vendors, swimming, kids’ activities, and entertainment. Leawood aquatic center open from 12 – 6. Kids activities and food vendors open at 6 p.m. Live music starts at 7 p.m. Fireworks begin around 9:45 p.m. 

Where: Leawood City Park. 10601 Lee Boulevard, Leawood, Kansas 66206 

Cost: FREE 

 

Stars and Stripes Picnic: Join the official Kansas City Independence Day Celebration with live music, local vendors, and fireworks over the National WWI Museum and Memorial.

When: 3:00 p.m. – 9:40 p.m. July 4 

What: The National WWI Museum and Memorial is hosting Kansas City’s official Independence Day Celebration. Grab a bite to eat, shop with local vendors, listen to live music featuring Kansas KC Native Casi Joy and enjoy fireworks over the Memorial. Additional entertainment provided by Kadesh Flow, All Night Trio, Marching Cobras, One Night Stand, and the KC Irish Dance Company. Grounds open at 3 p.m. Fireworks begin around 9:40 p.m. Event is rain or shine.

Lee’s Summit Legacy Blast Fireworks Celebration: Enjoy a family-friendly event featuring concessions, food truck vendors, face painting, and inflatables leading up to a stunning fireworks display.

When: 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. July 3 

What: Fireworks display begins at 9:30 p.m. Concessions, food truck vendors, face-painting, balloon artists, and inflatables for kids under 12 under will be at the baseball, soccer, softball and football venues before the fireworks. In the event of rain, Legacy Blast has a scheduled rain-out date of July 5.

Cost: FREE 

 

Liberty Fest: Participate in various activities, enjoy food trucks, a beer garden, live music by Lost Wax, and conclude the day with a fireworks show.

When: 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. July 3 

What: Activities, food trucks, beer garden, live music by Lost Wax, and fireworks. Beer, water and glow items will be available for purchase at the Liberty Area Chamber of Commerce tent. 

Where: Capitol Federal Sports Complex. 2200 Old State Hwy 210, Liberty, MO 64068 

Cost: Free but concessions are available for purchase, $10 parking pass. 

 

Sugar Creek 4th of July Fireworks Display: Start the day with a parade and end it with a fireworks display at LaBenite Park.

When: 9:00 p.m. July 4 

What: Always on the Fourth. The lineup for the Parade begins on Sterling at 10 a.m. Fireworks begin at dusk, approximately 9 p.m. 

Where: LaBenite Park 

Cost: FREE 

 

Parkville 4th of July Celebration: Enjoy a full day of activities including a pancake breakfast, a community parade, shopping, and a skydiving exhibition leading up to a fireworks finale.

When: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. July 4 

What: Parkville’s traditional salute to Independence Day includes a pancake breakfast, a community parade, food, fun, shopping, a skydiving exhibition, and a fireworks finale at 9:30 p.m. 

Where: Downtown Parkville 

Cost: FREE 

 

Weston Independence Day Celebration and Parade: Kick off the festivities early on July 1st with a family parade, food trucks, and the Holliday Distillery Street Dance, culminating with fireworks at dark.

When: 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. July 1 

What: Family parade 6:30 p.m. Food trucks will be set up on Market Street with tacos, hot dogs, ice cream and shaved ice. Then, enjoy the Holliday Distillery Street Dance until it’s time for fireworks at dark. 

Where: Historic Downtown Weston Missouri. 

Cost: FREE
